Socio-Economic Development Consulting

The last quarter of a century ushered in rapid socio-economic development and prosperity across the globe, unfortunately, a larger proportion of the world’s population have not shared in the progress made; they remain trapped in extreme poverty and continue to grapple with its effects. Interestingly, investments and aid to reduce poverty increased over this period, yet more people (especially in Sub-Saharan Africa) seem to have been escorted into extreme poverty. This throws up questions around the effectiveness of aid and other poverty reduction development programmes and reinforces the need for governments and organisations to rethink current strategies.

SEISMIC helps clients in both the public and social sectors understand the underlying drivers of extreme poverty and crafts strategies for implementation. We also support the implementation of various poverty reduction programmes and schemes through a number of ways: we combine socio-economic research with other tools to generate data and insights; we work with partners and clients to implement strategies; we work with clients and partners to ensure strategies are effectively targeted, monitored and evaluated.
